The film was presented by the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Smithsonian_Institution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smithsonian Institution<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Air_and_Space_Museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Air and Space Museum<\/a>, and played in IMAX theaters worldwide. The film is available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/DVD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DVD<\/a> format.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cosmic Voyage<\/em> has a format similar to Eva Szasz&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cosmic_Zoom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cosmic Zoom<\/em><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_and_Ray_Eames\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles and Ray Eames<\/a>&#8216;s classic <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Powers_of_Ten_(film)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Powers of Ten<\/em><\/a> educational video. All were based on the 1957 book <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cosmic_View\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Cosmic View<\/em><\/a> by Dutch educator <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kees_Boeke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kees Boeke<\/a>. <em>Cosmic Voyage<\/em> takes viewers on a journey through forty-two <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Order_of_magnitude\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">orders of magnitude<\/a>, beginning at a celebration in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Venice,_Italy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venice<\/a>, Italy slowly zooming out into the edge of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Observable_universe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">observable universe<\/a>. Then the view descends back to earth, and later zooms in upon a raindrop on a leaf on a hoop used in the celebration mentioned earlier, down to the level of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Subatomic_particle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">subatomic particles<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quarks<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the film offers some brief insight on the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Big_Bang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Bang<\/a> theory, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Black_hole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">black holes<\/a>, and the development of our <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Solar_System\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solar System<\/a>.
